No, I haven't fallen of the face of the earth but creativity and time haven't coexisted lately.

I did make a birthday card and Mother's Day card using the Manhattan flower embossing folder but I forgot to take pictures of them!

I managed to get a shot of this card for my niece before I sent it out.  I'm really gonna miss the Word Play set.  Baja Breeze is the background and SAB papers make up the rays.

The boy is in drivers training and a band concert tonight so it's going to be a busy day.

Happy Friday!
Today's retired DSP contains many of the colors that will be retiring: Baja Breeze, Bashful Blue, Certainly Celery and Regal Rose.
My last two cards didn't contain any embossing so I thought I'd sneak some in.  Again I used the Trust in God stamp set and it's the first time I used my new doilies sizzlit.
It is framed by Not Quite Navy.

Have a good weekend!

Today is Baja Breeze and River Rock.

I snuck in some Tangerine Tango and the brads are Pumpkin Pie.  I didn't have the DSP that I wanted, so I made my own background by using the stamp set Trust in God.
In lieu of a third butterfly (vellum is the top layer of the butterflies), I used ribbon--gotta use that up too!

I tried to take advantage of natural light and took the picture on my front porch but it is a bit distracting.  Just one more pic I took that way, then it's back to the white sheet background.

The last couple of days we have been seeing some sunshine (woo hoo) and today it's suppose to be close to 70, but the possibility of thunderstorms.  When I was younger I loved storms but now I get cranky if the power goes out!

So, as I mentioned, I'm making some cards using the upcoming retiring colors:  Regal Rose (the one I'll miss the most); Baja Breeze; Bashful Blue; River Rock; Certainly Celery; Not Quite Navy (another of my favorites); Bravo Burgundy; Riding Hood Red; More Mustard and Pretty in Pink.
I'm giving them to a member of our Grayce (senior citizens) group from church who sends out cards to our shut ins.

This uses Regal Rose and Certainly Celery.  The stamp set is Secret Garden and the leaves were punched. I used Rose Red and Regal Red on the stamp and misted it lightly.

Happy Spring!   Soooo glad the snow that fell didn't stick around last Saturday,
Our Florida vacation was great, only had to threaten the boy a few times that we would fly him home with money from his college fund.

Here's the band marching at Epcot--they did a great job.

And yes, that's from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando.  This was the girl's favorite part and I even got her to go on the Dragon challenge--the boys wimped out.

We stopped at a Waffle House in Georgia and a diner in Kentucky where we were served heaps of southern hospitality; even the boy remarked how friendly everyone was.

As you may know by now, Stampin' Up! is going through a small color refresh.  I'll be featuring some QUICK and EASY cards in the next few days with these colors.  I did dig through my stash of retired DSP so you'll see some of that too.   Now, I just have to find the camera........

Well, quite exciting around here.  Our varsity boy's basketball team is heading into the semi-finals, they've only lost 2 games the entire season.  Unfortunately, we will be heading down to Florida when it comes time to play for the STATE title.  Speaking of, this will be my last post until Spring Break is over in April.

The lighting isn't very good on this, but the colors are Tangerine Tango and Pacific Point.  I wanted to use up some scraps, and I had already run the DSP through the embossing folder, so I decided to cut out some hexagons.  I thought, hmmmm, what if it looked as if holes had been punched out of the whisper white, so I carefully lined up all of the hexs and didn't realize until after that the larger piece of patterned paper was in a different direction!!
Wishing you better luck in your endeavors and have a great Spring Break.

How not to dress Stupid  A funny new webisode from Stampin' Up!

Thursday, March 14, 2013

Here is the last of the cards from Saturday.

Lots of stuff here, unusual for me, I know.  The stamp sets are Trust God and Secret Garden (+corresponding framelits).  A little embossing and tied off with some Baker's twine.  A few layers but not bulky at all.

What makes them so great?
  • They're entirely transparent for perfect placement every time!
  • They are durable. The photopolymer material is designed to last.
  • Can you say sticky? (Don't worry; in a good way.) These stamps stick amazingly well to our clear blocks.
  • They're age tested. They won't yellow or cloud up over time.
  • We could go on, but we'll let you try them for yourself.
They are clearly a great choice.
